2010 Australian Barista Champs — Day 1
With an inspired performance, Jennifer Murray from Five Senses WA has narrowly missed out on a place in Saturday’s Australian Barista Championship Semi Final on the Gold Coast.

After competing in the WA state competition in November last year, Jen described her performance to be disappointing. From that moment Jen vowed to compete in the opens where today she showed her true colours with a strong and polished performance featuring lychee, grape and apricot reduction with chilled espresso signature drink. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to earn a place in the semi finals on Saturday.
This years open heats hosted one of the strongest pools of competitors with veterans, Jean-Paul Sutton, Scottie Callaghan, Simon James and Jesse Hyde securing a place in Saturdays semi final.
Tomorrow, these top performers will join the state winners including Five Senses staff members Caleb Podhaczky (Victorian Barista Champion) and Mark Chandler (WA Barista Champion) for a place in Sunday’s Final.
Tune in tomorrow for results on Day 2 including the Barista semi finals, Cup Tasting Opens and Latte Art Opens. The finalists of these events will move on to Sunday’s finals. Check out the live feed link to see the action as it happens.
