Bo stars on the stage

Bo starring as Lumiere in the recent production, Beauty and the Beast

Kimbo’s (our production manager) musical and acting talents have never been a surprise to us at Five Senses — we live with it day after day. The spontaneous song, mimicked voices and perfectly timed beat-boxing is what helps keep the Five Senses morale at a consistently high level.

Bo’s talents have not gone unnoticed by the wider community either. He has starred in numerous shows, none larger than the recent production — Beauty and the Beast, presented by the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre.

Kimbo stars as the comical Lumiere, the flirtatious candelabrum with a striking French accent.

Here’s what the critics said:
Among many notable support acts are Belle’s father Maurice, (Malcolm Pratt) an engaging Bud Tingwell-type, an inventor whose life-sized car threatens to fall to bits as it clunks across stage, Mrs Potts (Susan Vincent) the kindly teapot, Cogsworth (Peter Shaw) the anxious clock who heads the household and Lumiere, (Kim Godleman) a flirtatious candlestick with an outrageous accent. Their interactions are revealing as they desperately hold on to humanity and devise ways of bringing Belle and Beast together (to break the curse).

Here’s what the public said:
“I have to say that my personal favourite and in my opinion the stand out performance had to be Lumiere. Great accent, beautiful voice and not a second where he was out of character”.

“… although my daughter and I secretly felt Lumiere and Babette were highlights of the show, we’d go and see any show with just the two of them”.

“Lumiere impressed my daughter at the auditions. He had accumulated a group of fascinated children about him as he sat, waiting on the floor and amusing them with sound effects … I think my little girl fell in love with him then at the performance he cemented it! So “Lumiere” … you have yourself a new fan she’s only nine, but that probably doesn’t matter!
